Wedding venue

We're looking for a wedding site on the east coast(literally on the coast)or gulf, in the south...Carolinas, Georgia, Florida. Has anyone had a really good experience or a really bad experience with a resort/site as an attendee or a bride? We're looking at about 150 people, and we're looking at Sept-Nov. Budget would probably be compared to somewhere between a "courtyard" and a "Marriott" if it were a hotel budget. She'd love to be able to get married with view of the ocean but not on the ocean. I hope you guys can give some direction!

One suggestion, not on location, but other -
Read in a Marriott newsletter that a dad told his daughter that she could have her wedding anywhere she wanted - as long as it was a Marriott. Mother and Father went on a cruise with the resulting Marriott points.

So, make sure you join the hotel group's frequent stay program so you get points for all the $$$ you spend on the wedding.

Probably out of your budget, but the Ritz at Amelia Island comes to mind. They offer great rates at that time of year, so maybe they would work a deal. Alternate lodging options on Amelia Island if everyone can't afford the Ritz.

Litchfield Plantation in Pawleys Island South Carolina. There is a Hampton Inn right around the corner from it.

www.LitchfieldPlantation.com

A genuine former rice plantation and one of the few left in the entire south with the original main house.

Re: Marriott points. I have blocked rooms at a Marriott in Colorado for my daughter's wedding this summer. I was told that both I and the person actually renting the room thru the wedding block will be credited with Marriott points. Good deal. Congrats.
