I remember laying out on the beach one December we were there. I've also had some great beach days in Carmel in December when we go for our anniversary. ***kim***

Truthfully, I remember a snowball fight on the beach (just south of Cannon Beach) Thanksgiving weekend a number of years ago.

Yes, we have also had snow in Astoria in December. The storm watching is great from Fort Stevens, there used to be docents there with information and free coffee which was nice.

Our family has had a tradition of spending Thanksgiving somewhere along the Oregon coast over the years. Initially, it started out along the northern coast. However, we've been moving further south over time. Four years ago, we were at Cape Kwanda north of Lincoln City for the week. It was practically balmy -- temps in the mid to high 60s the whole time. This year, we will be at Seal Rock, south of Newport.

We love storm watching during the winter months. Another favorite activity is watching the grey whale migration, preferably on a charter boat. November is a bit early for the winter migration.

Presocia, nice website. Fort Stevens is no longer a viewing place for the whale migration, looks like Ecola State Park would be the closest place for us to go. We could pick up our literature at the Seaside Aquarium!

We're hoping to spend some time in Portland, and nine days on the coast in November. ***kim***

Be ready for anything. Everything I read said Spt is the best time to visit the coast. We went last wk and it was pouring rain!

The only kind of weather that you won't get in November is hot weather.
There are areas in the valleys and the coast that can get very dense fog.

Who told you that eroz? July and August are the best months if you want beach days. We were on the coast from the middle of June to the middle of August and maybe had a little drizzle once or twice. We had many sunny, beach days this summer in the Cannon Beach/Seaside area. ***kim***

September is usually the best weather at the central and northern Oregon beaches. We were just in Arch Cape (south of Cannon Beach) last week (9/16 to 9/21). In rained like crazy Friday night and all day Saturday, but the rest of the time the weather was beautiful - sunny and little or no wind, temps in the upper '60s or low '70s.

Arch Cape...... Brings back great memories. Our family spent several weeks there each summer. Did you walk down the beach to Hug Point, pdxgirl?

Best weather for what? August has always been very nice for us, and we've been going to the Oregon Coast for over 20 years in the summer. If it's beach days you want, August is the best month for sunny, warm weather. We had temps in the high 80's this summer when we were there.

Very nice for working on your tan and great boogey-boarding weather, tho we all use wet suits. ***kim***

"..tho we all use wet suits." That's the point, kim. Because the water is too cold, most beach activities don't involve getting in it. And, we don't tan here; we rust. So, all things considered, September is usually a great month on the Oregon coast.
