We loved Atlantic City!
My husband and I (34) just got back from a quick trip to Atlantic City. We stayed at the Atlantic City Hilton and had a blast.
The AC Hilton –
Very, very nice. The room overlooked the ocean, was very clean, quiet, triple-sheeted bed, bright hallways, marble bathrooms…all for $78 (including tax.) Parking was $3.
Food –
We ate at the breakfast buffet at Empress Gardens (?) in the Hilton. $24 for two including tax and tip. Standard breakfast buffet fare, but we were hungry, so it was great!
Since we had a late breakfast, we skipped lunch and had dinner at PF Changs at the Tropicana – The Quarter next door. I had never heard of PF Changs before the posts regarding favorite chains so I was happy to be able to try it. We loved it!! What an absolute deal!
Breakfast was at the Cappuccino place in the Hilton. I am a Seinfeld fan, so I had to have the cinnamon babka.
Entertainment –
We spent most of our time at the video poker machines where I learned that I could make $20 last 90 minutes or so. I always ended up losing it all, but it was fun while it lasted. While we were there, some guy a few rows over won $50,000 playing video poker. I played blackjack for the first time and my first had was 21! I ended up being up $5 and walked away! I am amazed with the people plopping down $100 after $100…that is not me, I am too cheap!
The rest of the time we spent relaxing in our quiet hotel room and walking along the boardwalk.
Now, I am a huge Las Vegas fan – nothing compares to Vegas. But we wanted a super fast trip away from the stresses of home and work and Atlantic City fit the bill perfectly.

Hi Renee.
I'm glad to hear you had a good trip. There has been a lot of bad mouthing AC in a few other threads.
AC is hard to beat when it is so close (I'm in the DC area). I'm going back for a weekend in March before heading to Vegas in May for the Centennial. I'll staying at the Tropicana and can't wait to see The Quarter.
PF Chiang's is great (and there are some in VA).
Take Care,
Mark

I have really been surprised with the amount of energy being used to bash AC! I half expected to walk into a place that was a step above hell...not a great place full of people!
I am in Williamsburg and I heard that there is a PF Changs in Richmond...we may have to go there this weekend!

I've been and I agree. Also, good trip report.
This kind of bashing is done to Laughlin, NV also on these boards, and I don't understand the energy in the negativity for that location either. They are not Vegas, and Laughlin especially doesn't aspire to be. And both are very good for a weekend getaway. Laughlin combines well with some nature trips and Lake Havasu, as well.
Some east coast nephews of mine say Atlantic City is changing for the better. I will try it next time I'm in that direction. Thanks for your report.
