Dear Donna
I have stayed at Disney and Universal. We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and did Universal in May. We had a great time at Universal and the Hard Rock Hotel was great. We also stayed at Disney before we went to Universal. Considering you asked my opinion I like Universal better. We went in May before the kids got out of school. It was busy, but not as bad as it would have been had we waited and went in the summer. I did research and was able to get good prices at both Disney and Universal hotels and parks. I think its possible to do both parks on one trip and stay within a budget. Everyone needs to go to Disney at least once. If you have already been there before go to Universal. Check out disboards.com for all information on Disney and Universal you could ever want. The people on this site regularly post special code numbers used for discounts for hotels on both these properties. Advice never pay full prices listed in travel books or allow a travel agent to book your onsight hotel. You can get it cheaper on your own. No matter were you go think about doing a character breakfast at either Disney or Universal. happy traveling.
Peace, Robbie

I've only styaed on the WDW grounds but if I go again, I plan to stay at a Universal property. One advantage that Universal offers is priority in lines if you stay at their properties. disney no longer has early entrance to those staying at it's properties. I know of lots of people who switch from a WDW hotel to a Universal hotel during their trip to take advantage of what both have to offer. I found www.mousesavers.com very helpful in planning our most recent trip to WDW. I thing the site has now added univeral info also. Have a great trip.

I have stayed at both WDW and Universal. I agree with the previous posters about staying onsite at Universal and getting the express line access. We LOVE the Hard Rock Hotel. You don't say how old your children are or how long you'll be there. You can walk to the Universal parks from the Hard Rock Hotel and the Royal Pacific Hotel. It's so easy to get around at Unversal.
I also agree that you should visit www.disboards.com There is a wealth of information on both Disney and Universal there. Just scroll down until you find what you need.
