WARNING -- WestPark Hotel, NYC

I recently booked a three-night stay at the WestPark hotel in Manhattan. When we arrived, we were given one of their typical "non-suite" rooms on the 7th floor. I want to warn all readers that this hotel is quite terrible. The rooms are small, dirty and ill-kept. The bathrooms are filthy. The walls are cracked and peeling. A major construction site across the street entirely obsures any view you may expect of Central Park, despite the hotel's misleading website photos and phone assurances. We moved to another hotel immediately. AVOID the WestPark Hotel, no matter how good a deal it may seem. Try the Salisbury Hotel down the block from Carnegie Hall instead. For an extra $35 or so, you'll get a nice place with great, clean rooms and good service.
