W Westwood or Renisance Hollywood???
Hi there,
I have researched on the boards the past messages but wanted to get some specific feedback. I live in O.C. but have friends coming into town in August. We are going to go and see Wicked and I want to get a room up in L.A. that night and do the "L.A." thing - I think because they have never been to LA before that would be the Rodeo Drive, Melrose Ave, blah, blah... <g>
Oh We are 40 something year old married women.
I have Marriott and Starwood points - so either the W Westwood is available or the Renisance <sp> Hollywood...
Direct feedback on either choice? I was in LA last weekend and the area around the Renisance seems to be a lot "nicer" then it was several years ago when I went up to see Lion King.
I was thinking of having dinner at BOA in Santa Monica - but not sure I want to drive back and forth from Hollywood area to S.M. - I have never been to the BOA in Hollywood - also thinking of a good sushi resturant?
Thanks so much in advance!

I would try and stay in the area of the Pantages as much as possible. The traffic on Hollywood Blvd at night is pretty bad. Worse if there is a concert up at the Bowl. So I would choose the Renissance. For sushi, why not Koi in West Hollywood, you may even see a movie star or two. We saw Bruce Willis last time we were there. There's also quite a few restaurants at Hollywood/Highland, Vert was very good (part of Spago), so was the Grill (steakhouse). I believe there is a sushi/shabu place in the complex as well, but I've never eaten there. Another plus, the complex offers a $3.00, r/t shuttle to the Pantages.

We stay at the W Hotel, Westwood several times a year. It's almost like a second home for us, we're there so often. The staff knows us and the bellmen know us and welcome us back warmly. Their suites are nice and it's a hip place. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a room in the back on a higher floor. Be prepared for chic and oh-so-L.A.

Regarding the "sushi restaurant," were you looking for just a sushi joint or a nice Japanese restaurant?
By the way, if you stay at The W, there Bliss spa is fabulous. Our oldest is in her third year at UCLA and in the midst of mid-terms. I arranged for her to have a very long massage there, this afternoon. She loved it.
