Hi. . .I'm South African and intend doing a US visit during the mid period of 2000 - essentially want to visit MaCalester and Krebs. . .can anyone assist with info germane to motel prices (these would have to be very 'budget' related). . Secondly, is it possible to fly into say, New Orleans or Port Arthur and take a Greyhound from there. . .what are Greyhound prices like ? . .what frequencies do they operatre. .and what is the travelling time from these points to Mcalester ?. . .sincere thanks. . The best "budget" motel chain in the US is Motel 6. Their website: www.motel6.com. Rooms are usually around $30 a night for a single person.
You can't fly into Port Arthur, as there is no passenger service at that airport. New Orleans and Houston are two other options.
Greyhound is a good, cheap way to travel around. Their website: www.greyhound.com

If this reply is not too late, There is a Microtel Inn at Krebs which is a nice new budget motel chain in the U.S. I do not know of any motel 6's in the McAlaster area but it is a good budget motel chain and most of the rooms are less than four years old because of remodeling.Visit Oklahoma City and Tulsa also.
