Visiting Hawaii for 3rd Time - Need help picking island!

Jump to last reply

This will be our 3rd time heading to Hawaii. My wife and I (we are 26 and 27 years old) are heading to Hawaii mid-November for 10 days. My sister lives on Oahu and the last 2 visits we stayed there for our entire visit. We love the north shore and hiking around the island. However, we feel like we've done just about everything there, and would like to visit another island for 4-5 days of our stay this time. We can't decide on an island and need help!

Kauai and Maui seemed to be the best options for us. In terms of importance, hiking, beaches, snorkeling, and restaurants are probably are favorite things to do. We're a little wary of the rough waters in November that will make some beaches not swimmable and effect some of the things we wanted to do in Kauai. It also seems like Maui can get crowded. We're not a big fan of Waikiki because of the crowds and usually avoid that area when visiting Oahu.

We just ordered the Kauai and Maui revealed books. They'll be here next week. In the meantime, I'd love to get some opinions of people who have gone to either or both islands. Any links to articles/sites I could read to help us with this decision would be extremely helpful as well.

Thanks!
