Hi Fodorites!
I was wondering if anyone has visited vilano beach in st. augustine. if you have, could you please tell me some of the things you did?
any particular restaurants, tourist attractions or points of interest?
I hear the beach is incredible, and that you can drive your car up to it.

This is an interesting and somewhat unusual question. I don't believe I've ever seen a question about Vilano Beach before. I am only familiar with the southernmost part of Vilano Beach from the bridge and several miles northward. There, it is a very narrow beach with limited public access and parking opportunities. There are three noteworthy restaurants: The Reef, which has an outstanding Sunday brunch, Aunt Kate's, Cap’s on the Water. I believe there may be a Hampton Inn and 1-2 other hotels, but I have no personal knowledge of them.
Having said all of this, you would have many more lodging, dining and recreation options available in nearby St. Augustine.

hi vic,
quick question: is aunt kate's a pirate themed restaurant? or is that only at special times. i read somewhere that they do that. just curious.
thanks for your info!
bluegreenaide,
I've never been to Aunt Kate's, but want to in the near future. Maybe next month. Take a look at their web site: http://www.aunt-kates.com
I "don't think" it is a pirate themed restaurant. Just a casual, riverfront restaurant.
