Victoria, BC to Whidbey Island
We are planning a trip (next week, acutally) touring the Seattle, Vancouver, & Victoria areas by car. I had the trip pretty well planned, but now I have to figure out how to leave Victoria Saturday morning, stop in Clinton on Whidbey Island for a 3 hour visit with family and get to the Sea-Tac airport for Saturday night. We have nonrefundable reservations at a hotel there & are flying out on Sunday morning. Also, our reservations in Victoria are non-negotiable. So I need to find out the quickest way to get from Victoria to Whidbey on Saturday. Any suggestions?
Thanks!!!

I had a long answer written out about how I would use the Tsawwassen ferry rather than the Port Angeles ferry, thinking the only sailing of the Anacortes/San Juan Islands ferry was in the late afternoon.
Wrong, there's an 11:20 am sailing that arrives in Anacortes around 1:30 pm, that would put you in Clinton around 2:30. I'd book a reservation for that boat and avoid all the uncertainty with the non-bookable Port Angeles ferry, the tide-inhibited Port Townsend-Whidbey ferry, or the risk of hellish backups at the border on a weekend afternoon.
From Clinton it's a short ferry ride to Mukilteo, then 40 min. to Sea-Tac. Piece of cake.

Recommendation from Gardyloo is good. However, you can reserve on the Victoria to Port Angeles ferry now and all the entry formalities are done in Victoria while you wait for the ferry. The sailings from Victoria are more frequent and you are required to show up 1 1/2 hours ahead of time to clear US agents so there is no delay at Port Angeles. We did this trip last week and the ferry from Port Angeles to Whidbey runs frequently and takes about 1/2 hour to cross to Whidbey. Check the Washington State ferry website for schedules and info.

OK, Thanks...
I have checked out the suggestions & I think we will take the ferry from Sidney to Anacortes. I really appreciate everyone's help. I feel much better about that last day of the trip now.
Thanks again!!!

How bad (as in scary) is the Deception Pass bridge? I have a fear of high bridges, and am thinking of doing the same route, drive from Anacortes down to Clinton, but I see that bridge there. How long does it take to drive over it?
