Ok, my brain isn't in its best working order and I couldn't come up with a better title for my post.
Here is my dilemma: we want to rent a large SUV or van, and be able to tow a small car behind it. I've been calling all the rental companies and I'm not surprised that no one will rent an SUV or van with a hitch... but, we still need to do this.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Vehicle renting and towing???

Can someone drive the small car behind you rather than towing it?
Is this for a move, a vacation, or??
I can't think any rental agency would allow you to tow a car. But if this is for a relocation, places like U-haul or Penske do (I think) rent trucks w/ hitches.
Nah, it's a vacation with us wanting to take a car up to my daughter we are visiting. I loathe the thought of driving the extra car, but I guess I will have to bite the bullet (or steering wheel).
We have all her wedding gifts, me, DH, my mother and our dog. I thought it would be so nice to rent a nice SUV for all of us to be comfy in, but it seems that we will just have to drive our car, and the car my mother is giving to daughter and SIL.
Thanks, though.
I do not know if you were planning to flat tow or not. Some vehicle cannot be towed that way, it could cause transmission or other damage. You may need wheel dollys or a trailer. This site will give you some information on towing. It is about towing a vehicle behind a motorhome but the same would apply if you were towing with any vehicle.

Why don't you check with a "Drive-a-way" company. They have people who want to drive to a location and will drive for you and pay for the gas and deliver the car to wherever you want it to go. There is a small fee involved, but that would be a way to get the car there, and not have to drive it yourself, and you can rent the SUV and be a bit more comfortable.
Check your yellow pages. Hope this helps.
Why not see if you can get one of those extra storage things that go on top of the SUV? Maybe that could hold the wedding gifts?
