We are in our early fifties, going to Vegas for a third time. In our earlier days when we had no money we stayed at Excalibur, then the second time we stayed in a suite at the Monte Carlo that we really loved. We thought about staying at the Monte Carlo again but this time we are bringing another couple that like more upscale places. So my question is that we liked the small atmosphere of the Monte Carlo, is there something out there that would be good for both couples? Not super huge, but more upscale for the other couple. Thanks for any information you can give me.

The Platinum is terrific but not right on the strip. I would probably look at The Palazzo and The Encore if I were you.
Such a judgment call. Am a big Wynn fan but if you get a 18th story or so room at the Flamingo (refurbished) - which overlooks the Bellagio fountain - that's hard to beat!
Also like the Bellagio.
My favorite website for staying in Vegas...

Casino Boy will lead you to hotels, in an irreverant way.
He will also give you pricing.
However, always go to the hotel website to see if you can get better pricing.
I like M Resort.
Off the strip, south las vegas blvd in henderson, 10 minutes away from strip, smaller hotel, but the rooms are nice and large!
