Vegas airport shuttles?
We're coming into Vegas for one night and flying out the next day. I was wondering if I could drop the rental off at the hotel (Luxor) when we arrive, and catch a shuttle to the airport the next day. I don't imagine we would need the car for just one night on the strip, and we would save an extra days rental. What kind of transportation is available from the hotel to the airport? Would I save much by doing this?

I don't understand what you're saying. WHy would you need a rental AND a shuttle. Where at the Luxor are you going to drop it off?
Anyway, a taxi is probably best with more than one person. Shuttles run about $4.50pp and you have to stop everywhere so with 2 or more people, it's not much more cost effective than a cab. I usually visit multiple hotels for gambling, dinner shows, clubs, etc. so even for one night, I get a rental car because the sum of all cab fares is greater than a one day rental.

I'll try to clarify - we're doing 8 days in Arizona and Utah with a rental car, and flying out of Vegas. Just wondering if we would be better off dropping the car at the Luxor hotel a day early, then getting a shuttle or cab to the airport the next morning, instead of just keeping the car at the Luxor to get us to the airport in the morning. I understand that most of the hotels on the strip have car rental facilities where one could drop off a car.

You'll need to call the car rental company to see if they're the one's that operate the rental desk at the Luxor, and if so, if there is an add'l charge for dropping the car off there.
I would think you'd need to save at least $20 by dropping the car off at the airport early, since it will probably cost $10 by taxi from airport to Luxor and then back to the airport the next day (this doesn't account for the time taken away from your vacation "commuting" to drop off the car early)

I'm not aware of any drop off point at the Luxor (and there could actually be a fee involved even if there is a drop off point)..
An option: check in at the Luxor. Then one of you take the car to the airport and drop it off. (note; from the car rental, shuttle to the airport (free); from the airport, shuttle to Luxor ($4.50). Next day, your group shuttles to the airport...
Another option: Keep the car (free parking at Luxor) and drive to the car rental site the day of your departure..
Unless I were paying a premium for the car, I think I'd just keep it.
