Vancouver, Washington to Redwood National and State Park, California
I would would like ideas for planning a trip that starts at Vancouver, WA to the Redwoods and back to Vancouver, WA. The trip will be about a week. What are some good hotspots to hit while traveling to the Redwoods. Great places to stay that aren't that expensive.

Some destinations of interest are Cannon Beach and Ecola State Park, the Otter Crest region, Yaquina Head and lighthouse, Newport for the bay front and aquarium, Seal Rock, Yachts, Cape Perpetua, the Sea Lion Caves, the ocean views from Port Orford to Brookings, Ashland (the Shakespeare Festival), Crater Lake, Bend and Lava Lands, Smith Rock State Park, Timberline Lodge, and the Columbia River Gorge including Maltnomah Falls and Visa House.
In July and August the great places to stay are not cheap.
