Vancouver to Alaska in July
On a first time cruise in July Vancouver to Alaska whats recommended and whats not on the stop overs. Is the trip worth the cost or not. Any thoughts on the Norwegian Wind ( formerly the Windward). Is it worth the cost for an outside room. What about the best ( read that most expensive) Any suggestions on getting a cabin mate for a female.
Thanks.
Thanks.

An inside room is usually larger and you are there only to sleep and change clothes. If you ask there are often single rooms. We enjoyed the trip to Alaska via the Alaska Marine Highway. It goes close to the shore and the crew are helpful. This is not a cruise ship, but much better. It takes 3 days up to Skagway overnight and 3 days back to Seattle. If you wish to E-mail me I will try to explain more. I have travled on cruise ships there also.

We are going on an Alaskan cruise in Aug so we would be interested in getting your comments when you return. As far as cruises...We have been on 7 cruises to date & have always had an outside cabin yet never paid for it. I think if you have the extra money go for it. However, I reaaly don't think it's neccessary. Also, some cruise hints.. get to the ship really early if possible. It's better to board early & get settled. Plus, they usually start check in earlier than what the cruise line tells you. Bring a plastic insulated bag & bring your own beverages. The cruise line charges appproximately $3 drink & it can really add up. I even bring my own coke!

Information on Alaska Marine Highway at www.dot.state.ak.us/external/amhs/home.html It has rates for travel, and food. If adventurous you can sleep on the deck and use the public restrooms. Cabins are very comfortable.
