My husband and I (mid 50s) will be in Savannah from February 13 to 18 and I would like to make reservations for dinner on the 14th. I am not looking for "ritzy and fancy" but rather for a place with some ambience that serves fresh local cuisine. Where would you go?

Belfort's by the City Market and Boar's Head by the Riverfront were two places I ate while there that I think might fit what you're looking for. The shrimp & grits I had at Belfort's was award-winning and the bouillabaisse I had at Boar's Head was amazing. Both had history, ambience and terrific food without being overly fancy.
Keep in mind when dining out on Valentine's Day you are apt to find restaurants (especially those with "ambiance") to be very crowded, often offering a limited menu selections and the staff is a bit harried so you could get less than stellar device. We learned long ago not to dine out on Valentine's Day - the meals are mediocre (even in high end restaurants) and it's always less than the romantic interlude most people envision.
Thank you for the suggestions and thank you for reminding me that the 14th may not be a good choice - might be nice for our last night in Savannah.
