We'll be having a family reunion in Vail this summer and the concensus is to rent condos. We're looking for something not TOO pricey (usually not too difficult in the summertime) but also very close to Vail Village (walking distance pref). Probably about 20 people attending-needing about 6 or 7 condos (some 3 bedroom, some 1 bedroom, etc). Any suggestions?

There are several rental agencies in Vail that handle individually owned condo's. I've used Prudential Gore Range Properties in the past. Usually I book directly with owners on VRBO.com, but that option is probably not viable when you need so many. Will you have cars? Have you thought of renting a couple of houses or do you want more privacy for each family?
I have no suggestions for you, but I just want to say that my husband and I were in Vail for a week in July and LOVED it!
Weather was perfect and we really enjoyed it.
Have fun!
Question for Mikes Mom? What did you do in Vail in July?
We actually live a few hours from Vail and spend time there every summer-just not familiar with the condo situation. That said-LOVE it in the summer! hiking, gondolas, wonderful patios on which to have cocktails and enjoy the spectacular views, biking, walking, did I mention drinking on the patios?? Shopping etc....and thanks Paige for the tip!
A friend of mine who lives in Eagle had a wedding in Vail in August - all of her friends and family came in from Minnesota and we all rented condos at Lion Square Lodge. They have 1, 2, and 3 bedroom condos (all privately owned) as well as hotel rooms. They weren't too pricey and are right in Vail Village. Check them out at:

Let me know if you have any questions.
We celebrated our 30th anniversary in July in Vail. We stayed four nights at the Sonnenalp Resort which was FABULOUS. We enjoyed shopping and restaurants in Vail Village. We saw the Dallas Symphony at the Gerald Ford Amphitheater. We relaxed. We took a drive to Glenwood Springs. We went to Breckinridge for the day.
We also spent two nights at the Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch. Again, fantastic. Enjoyed Beaver Creek and Edwards.
We just relaxed, shopped, ate and did some sightseeing. It was a great trip and we hope to return to Colorado again in the next couple of years.
I believe the Sonnenenalp Resort is pretty pricey - even in the summer.
The Sonnenalp is very expensive. We paid $415 per night -- what can I say, it was our 30th wedding anniversary.
The bad news is - now I'm spoiled and if I go back to Vail, I will want to stay at the Sonnenalp - YIKES!
The Lionshead section of Vail is more oriented towards affordable condo rentals. Vail Village is more expensive and is mostly hotels.
Gold Peak - Manor Vail Lodge, www.manorvail.com - easy walking to Vail Village.
Destination Resorts - Landmark, Vail 21, Enzian - Lionshead, 10 minute walk or free bus to Vail Village. destinationresortsvail.com (basis accommodation but good location)
Lionsquare Lodge - as mentioned above
There are more complexes, of course, but this will give an idea of range of prices.
