Trip to Sedona
I am planning a trip to Phoenix at the end of April and thought that I might spend a couple of nights in Sedona. Any suggestions on the must-sees and must-dos and how much time I should alot for them. Since I will be leaving Phoenix in the morning, spending two nights in Sedona and leaving the next morning, I figure that gives me about a day and a half in Sedona. Would it be worth it to drive from Phoenix, through Prescott and Jerome, and up to Sedona? I haven't seen recommending traveling to Sedona this way but thought it might give me a chance to travel through all these areas.

From Phoenix to Sedona is only about 2.5 hours. Not a bad drive at all. I can't make any recommendations as to places to see in Sedona; I've only been there for short stays and gone to the Grand Canyon each time, but as to where to stay, book a casita at the Enchantment Resort. It's in a red rock canyon a little outside of town. Remote and beautiful. They have a website. The architecture is adobe style. Each casita has a fireplace and the junior casitas have murphy beds - pretty nifty. It is a truly unique place.

Don...It would make a very nice scenic ride to leave Phoenix, go to Sedona via Prescott and Jerome. The direct drive from Phx. to Sedona is only about one and half hours, but if you left Phoenix early you could have a late breakfast in Prescott and hit Jerome...Jerome has a wonderful museum housed in the former Douglas "mansion" and it also has wonderful views. Then you could go onto Sedona in mid-afternoon. Especially for that time of year, you have a good thought instead of just beelining it down I-17.

We enjoyed our 4-night stay in Sedona late last April. Most people enjoy a Jeep tour of the back country. Many companies offer them. It can give you ideas of where to go hiking later if you're interested. Red Rock Park is gorgeous. The church in the rocks (forgot the exact name) is worth a visit. There's a cute little museum on the main street with stills from the many western movies shot in the area. Also stop at the mesa along Airport Rd to catch the sunset on the red rocks. Jerome, loaded with art galleries, is scenic and worth a stop along the way. You also could visit Montezuma's Castle (60 mins is plenty), an old Native cliff dwelling. Sedona is a gorgeous area. Have fun.
