Trip to NY

We decided to proceed with our scheduled trip to NY 10/6. Any problems with the Belvedere Hotel? Besides parade, are there other events scheduled for Columbus Day?

Good for you and welcome to our city! I'm not familiar with the Belvedere. Other than the parade, Columbus Day is generally a great shopping time with lots of sales in all the stores. As long as the weather holds out, Central Park should be jumping with lots of joggers, rollerbladers, etc. All museums will be opened as well as restaurants and Bway shows. Have a great time and welcome again!

The few references made to the Belvedere on this forum have been positive. The hotel is in the midtown area one block from Broadway and the Times Square area.
All Broadway theaters are within walking distance and there are plenty of restaurants in the area. Enjoy your trip.

The Belvedere is fine, but you can probably get a much better hotel on Priceline for under $100. Others have gotten the Marriott Marquis in Times Square for as low as $75. Before bidding on Priceline, take a look at www.biddingfortravel.com, which gives advice on how to use priceline.

Just a note on the parade. I am not sure, but they may end up cancelling it. Seems that any event that draws a large crowd (street fairs) etc., are being reviewed case by case. Apparently, our police force is being stretched to the limit since the 11th, and pulling hundreds of cops to line the parade route is not a priority. However, due to the city making its best effort to return to normal, they may let the parade go on. That is also a big weekend for street fairs and craft shows. Pick up a copy of Time Out New York when you get here. It will give you a listing of all events scheduled for the weekend.
