Hi! I live in Chicago and want to make a 2-3 day trip to Missouri. I do not have a car and wanted to take the train to Hermann. I am looking for some hills, a river, a charming town, and Hermann and Augusta sound nice.
My questions:
I thought of going March 27-28 - Stone Hill Winery has a wurstfest (not exactly my thing, but I thought it would be nice to experience some culture). Has anyone attended either the wurstfest or the Mayfest (May 15-16)? Would love some reviews.
Is it better to go to the wine country in May rather than in March or April?
Is it possible to get a train from Hermann to Augusta?
Is it possible to get a train from St Louis to Hermann?
Thank you!

You can get to Hermann by train, twice a day from St. Louis. You can get to Augusta by taking a train to Washington, MO and taking a taxi. None of this is terribly convenient. It may be worth renting a car in St. Louis.
Thank you!
