We just returned from a great trip to Jackson Wy. We do a ski trip every year, Aspen, Park City, Copper Mtn, Vail etc. Jackson was the best overall place we have visited. We are already talking about going back next year!
We stayed at The Wort Hotel, can't say enough good stuff about the Wort! Great nice staff, fun bar the Silver Dollar Bar with live bands downstairs, not pretentious at all, but everything you want. Western high class for sure. Being right downtown where all the restaurants, stores and bars are within walking distance was great. Normally, I push for ski in, ski out but in this case I am glad we didn't stay in Teton Village. Teton Village, at the base of Jackson Hole Ski Resort, is about a 20 -35 min drive from Jackson, has some fun bars like Mangy Moose and Nick Wilson's and restaurants, but is much smaller than Vail or Copper Mtn. The Wort has a free shuttle to and from the ski area, but is easily accessible by a $3.00 bus ride as well, if you want a later start or apre ski time.
Jackson Hole Ski Resort is awesome. Tough skiing for sure, probably best suited for intermediate or above level skiers. The runs have spectacular views but they are long, long, long. No lift lines except on the tram where they really squish you in. If you are claustrophobic avoid the tram.
We also skied one day at Grand Targhee, it was snowy and foggy the day we went, but ended up having a lot of fun, not as exhausting as JH. There is a shuttle from alltrans that drives you there and back in comfort. It's around $90 and includes the days lift ticket.
My highlight of the trip was our snowmobile trip through Rocky Mountain Snowmobile Tours. We started out Yelowstone Tour of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone bright and early at 5:40am. Got fitted for a snowsuit, the suits come in all sizes from petite to not so petite
Then we got a tastey breakfast to get us started. Our guide, James, was great! We headed out on the sleds in Yellowstone, we saw buffalo herds and the geysers, and enjoyed our time with James, talking about stories, history of the park, and animals. We liked it so much we scheduled a second trip into Gros Ventre. That was beautiful scenery and deer, mountain sheep and our favorite, moose. Over 30 of them! A good lunch us provided and the other sledders were good company too. Simply amazing two days. They were both 100mile plus days, but if you are looking for an easier ride we heard great things about the Hot Springs Trip.
Don't miss the Elk Preserve, so cool. Loved seeing the elk up close. Fun for all ages.
After all the skiing and sledding I needed a good massage. I recommend the Spa at the Snake River Lodge. Sitting in the soa watching the lifts was pretty cool.
Favorite places: Silver Dollar Bar and Restaurant, great drinks, any breakfast and corn chowder, mmmmm! Billy's, cheeseburger, Cadillac Grill, potstickers, Cowboy Bar, saddle up, Snake River Brewery, beef dip, Mangy Moose, margaritas and nachos, Nick Wilsons, buffalo chicken sandwich, Nikkai, sushi and Cowboy Roll...just a couple ideas.

Great report! I love the Mangy Moose, too. And, I agree, they really cram people into the tram at Jackson Hole, but it's fun to ski off the top and the views are incredible on a clear day! The last time we were in Jackson, there were a lot of paragliders launching from the bowl at the top of the mountain. It was very cool!
I agree about Grand Targhee; it's usually foggy, but the snow is also usually pretty good.
It sounds like you had a great trip!
