Trip Report - Savannah

Spent a wonderful 48 hours in Savannah, after a few days in Charleston (in a separate trip report). And really it was shorter than that bc we had to get our car fixed which took a whole afternoon. Summary and links to blog entries with more info:

1. Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room - waited 2 hours but it was more than worth it. Best fried chicken ever. http://www.eatdreamtravel.com/2012/0...ning-room.html

2. Olde Pink House - a great choice for dinner. Get the red fish special if they have it, or the crispy flounder. We ended up sitting in the downstairs bar area, which was great because we were able to hear the wonderful piano playing and singing.

3. Savannah Dan walking tour - it's as good as all the reviews say. Do it!

4. Riverfront. Our hotel was there, but really it's kind of tacky and full of touristy stuff. Nothing is far apart in Savannah, but the area near the historic squares is prettier, in my opinion.

5. Bonaventure Cemetery - beautiful, especially if you're into photography. But better perhaps with a tour or some information to give context. http://www.eatdreamtravel.com/2012/0...-savannah.html

thanks for the report. DH and I were there in September and loved both Charleston and Savannah. Such history and the wonderful squares in Savannah were welcomed as they were shady and it was hot and humid!

Shar (I like your name) - It was pretty cold when we were there, I imagine that it would be a different experience in hot weather. While it might be annoying during the day, it would have been nice to have been able to sit outside at night, which we couldn't do.

Isn't the Olde Pink House great?

We were in Savannah and Charleston last spring and stayed next door.

Arrived to rain and then sun the rest of the way.

I agree about Riverfront.

Now I'll check out your Charleston report.

Oh, why didn't you put them together.

In case you didn't know you could tag it for both GA & SC by holding down the Ctrl key.

Any photos we can see to bring back memories?

You can see mine at:

Thanks Myer. You're right, I probably should have put them together. Still figuring out the best way to do things on here. I did not know how to tag for both - thanks! There are photos in the blog links, as I think you already discovered. Yours are fabulous!
