Trip from Los Angeles to Portland, San Francisco, Las Vegas and back to LA
I live in Brazil and I am planning to go with my family in July from my city (Sao Paulo-Brazil) to Los Angeles. Then I go to Portland(where I have a friend), then to San Francisco, Las Vegas and finally to Los Angeles to fly back to Brazil. I don´t know what is better: go by plane or by car. What parts of the trip do you suggest for me to go by plane and whar part by car. I am sorry about my bad English. Thanks a lot.

Welcome to the USA.
It would be ideal to fly into Portland and out of Los Angeles, renting a car in Portland that you can dropoff in LA.
The drive between LA and Las Vegas is not scenic. I suggest you fly there. I believe you will find airline tickets for about $100 round-trip in July. In Las Vegas, hotel rooms are usually much less expensive on Sunday through Thursday than on Friday and Saturday.
Driving between LA and SF on scenic Highway 1 is complicated at the moment by a landslide that has closed the highway south of Big Sur.
Driving from LA to Portland, stay on scenic Highway 1 as much as you can between LA and San Francisco.
Near San Francisco, the Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley are major wine regions and they are popular tourist destinations.
In northern California, the main attraction is the giant Redwood trees.
The drive on Highway 101 between Eureka, California, and Cannon Beach, Oregon, offers many spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. Our favorite towns in which to stay on the Oregon coast are Brookings, Bandon, Newport, Yachats, and Cannon Beach.
The major attractions near Portland are the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood.
The drive on Highway I-5 between Portland and San Francisco is about 650 miles and requires about 11 hours of driving. Ashland, in southern Oregon, is the most interesting town in which to stop for the night along this route.

This is just a small thing but you tagged Washington and Utah for your posts. The states you will be in are only California, Oregon, and Nevada.
You could fly from Los Angeles up to Portland (your furthest point north) then rent a car and drive back down to San Francisco. That would make a scenic trip.
Not sure how to best work in the Las Vegas part.
