Traveling in NYC with aging grandparents
My daughter graduates from high school in June and wants me to take her and my parents to New York City. My mom's not keen on going because she get too tired,has trouble getting around, and doesn't feel the need to see the museums anymore since she's seen them so much. Any suggestions about easy (inexpensive) ways to get around and/or alternatives? We'll probably fly up.

You cannot use the two cheapest ways to get around NYC walk and the subway. Too many subway stations do not have elevators or escalators that go from the street level to the platform.
Buses are good since they have "kneeling" buses which make it easy for those who trouble with steps to negotiate them plus they have a platform that meets the sidewalk for walkers and wheelchairs.
Nelson is right, it will be the fun your daughter wishes the whole family to have, even though it is kind thought.

Agree - if your mom thinks NYC will be too much for her - just take your daughter - so she can really explore. Then do something else with parents that both they and daughter will enjoy.
The only easy way to get aournd NYC for people without a lot of energy is cabs (buses are fine - but much of the day they are crowded and standing for 30 minutes to get someplace in traffic won't be fun either).

If your daughter wants to celebrate her high school graduation with her grandparents, she could ask her grandmother where she would prefer to go if New York City wouldn't be enjoyable for her.

I was curious as to HOW you were going to get her grandparents to NYC if they didn't want to go!
Depending on their age and condition duct tape, drugs, or both. That way the plane ride is much enjoyable than when you have full senses.
