I will be visiting pittsburgh, PA next month and I have a friend that lives in buffalo ny (about 3.5 hours) away. She doesn't own a car. Whats the cheapest way to get from buffalo to pittsburgh and back? Is there a train or daily bus or something? Any other options besides getting a rental car?

It looks like Greyhound has twice-daily service each way.
You could try Amtrak --Buffalo to Cleveland to Pittsburgh--but I bet the bus is faster and cheaper.
