I’ve found quite a bit of information regarding travel insurance online, but am not sure how much of it is true. I am in the process of arranging a big trip for my entire family and would be curious to know what travel insurance options are available, and who underwrites it. I do believe that most credit cards have some type of travel protection, but have also heard horror stories from those who have tried to file a claim. Does anyone have any specific advice on where to search to find accurate information. Any tips on the do’s and don’ts with securing insurance? I have been successful in finding vacation packages online.I recommend www.volumebuy.com. Their group buying model offers attractive pricing.

It would be essential to actually contact all your credit card providers to ascertain what, if any, travel insurance is provided by each. If you have home owners insurance, you may have some coverage therein as well. Otherwise, there are an infinite number of plans of all varieties you can purchase from hundreds of vendors. Your best bet is to visit a few websites and determine what, if any, insurance you may require. If you do plan upon purchasing any, it is critical that you purchase same only after reading the actual policy (not the overview or slick brochure). Never, ever, rely on what whoever is selling it to you describes - always go by the actual policies (whicha are full of exclusions and disclaimers). It's prudent to find out before you leave home exactly what to do if a situation arises - where to call (and whether they speak English) and what to do...
Alex, no one is biting...this is the same damn VolumeBuy ad you've posted in the past. Give it up!!!!!!!!
