Transportation from Brooklyn to LaGuardia Airport
What kind of public transportation is available to LaGuardia Airport from Brooklyn (Park Slope area)?
From the airport website information, there is not much other than taxis or car services. Approximately how much is the taxi service?

Taxis are probably about $30 to $40, same for car services.
You can always take the A Train to the airport (the Franklin Avenue shuttle connects with the Park Slope lines), but this is hardly the most convenient or quickest way. Car service is probably the best option.

Doug's info about the A train would be good if you were headed to JFK, but not for LGA.
There are ways to reach LGA via public transport, but it would be a tediously long trip involving changes of train and/or bus, depending on from where in Park Slope you are beginning.
Best case scenario would be if you were staying close to the F train. Take the F train at 15th St/Prospect Park to Queesn (via Manhattan) to the Jackson Hts/Roosevelt Ave stop, where you would connect to the Q33 local bus. Hopstop.com estimates this trip to take 1 hr 32 mins.
Take a car service!

Thanks for the information. I am curious about where this thread ended up. I thought I clicked on "New York" when I posted this, but cannot find it today until I click on my own user name.
Are taxis plentiful in Park Slope area, as in Manhattan, where I can just wave down a taxi on any street any time?

Yes and no. Depends on where you are. Many people in Brooklyn would call a car service.
The "New York" specificity is used for the search function only--and the search function on Fodor's does not have the best functionality. Clicking on your screenname is the easiest way to find your posts.

From Brooklyn I would definitely call a car service - try Carmel of Dial 7 0 and check the web sites for discount coupons. Depending on exactly where you are there may be some cabs or none at all.

There are several car service that Park Slopers use.
One is called Arecibo (718) 783-6465. Other commonly used car services are Legends or Eastern Car Service.
Its actual pretty inexpensive, it will probably run you about $27 to go to LGA? It costs only $35 to get to JFK from Park Slope and LGA is closer.
BTW, there sometimes are NYC taxi cabs, but usually only on the main avenues like 7th Avenue and 5th Avenue.
For Brooklynites, calling a car is the equivalent of hailing a taxi.

Sorry about my own stupidity. There are really no good public transit options for LGA from Brooklyn. All the buses and subways go to/from Queens.
So a taxi or car service are the only options, and these estimates sound right on to me. I'm not sure that LGA is that much closer to Park Slope than JFK, though.

I would like to report that the car service (11th Street Car Service) recommended by the house owner was on time and reasonably priced. The car arrived a few minutes early, and the fee was $30 to LGA.
I did call Dial7 car service, but their fee was $53, quite a difference.
Kangamom, do you live around Park Slope area? My daughter has been looking for a place to live, shared apartments mostly.
