Tour of wine country
I'm interested in taking a trip to California (wine country) then on up the coast. The one I'm most interested in is Cosmo's Pacific Northwest Explorer but the cost is $1670 not counting airfare. Airfare from Georgia will be mighty expensive. Plus, we would fly into San Francisco but out of Vancouver. That would add even more expense. I went to China 5 years ago for less than this trip will cost. Do any of you have other suggestions? I am only interested in an escorted tour.
Thanks so much for your help.

If you want an escorted tour you will have to pay that much or more.
Accomodations and travel costs are MUCH higher in CA/OR/WA than they are in China. Plus w/ so few companies offering this sort of tour, there isn't much competition to keep the rates down (and 5 years ago THIS tour would have been less expensive too - just fuel cost increases since 2002 would add significantly to the price)
It is your choice - but why are you only interested in a bus tour??

I'm not just interested in a bus tour...I don't know what else is available. We are two women, flying from GA and would like a trip up the west coast to escape the heat of GA in August. Any suggestions?

I don't know about CA yet, but I've been looking into a trip there and enjoyed http://www.cabbi.com/ among other sites. Being from America (SC!) I'd sooner rent a car to venture north of San Francisco to see the coast and vineyards and enjoy what comes up rather than rely on a tour bus. Save Globus for trips further away - IMHO. I think CA wine country could be more magical if one happened onto non-touristy places
