Top 5 things to do in Vermont
I will be in Vermont for a couple of days in September. What are the top 5 things to do in Vermont. I like to sight see, bike, and tour historical homes & museums. Thanks!

I don't know if these qualify as in the top 5, but we liked the drive up Mt. Equinox (near Manchester), which was really pretty the fall we did it. The Ben & Jerry's factory tour was fun; very touristy, and free samples! We also enjoyed the hike up to Sterling Pond along a (very) small section of the Appalachian Trail near Stowe, even though the day we did it the fog was so thick we could barely see more than 10'.

It's a big state and don't know which part you're planning on visiting, but here is my list which touches upon different areas of Vermont.
1) Bike, walk or blade on the Stowe Recreation Path. Take the gondola to just below the summit of Mt. Mansfield for spectacular views.
2) Visit Hildene in Manchester, summer home of Robert Todd Lincoln.
3) Drive around the Northeast Kingdom, the most beautiful and unspoiled part of the state (IMO). The Peacham/Danville area and Lake Willoughby are my favorites. The Fairbanks Museum in St. Johnsbury is also a nice diversion. If you love dogs, check out Dog Mountain and the Stephen Huneck Gallery on Spaulding Road in St. Johnsbury.
4) Take a cruise on the Spirit of Ethan Allen on Lake Champlain. Board the boat at the Burlington Boathouse.
5) Visit Woodstock and the Billings Farm National Historic Park.

Shelburne Museum out to be in your top 5. Expect to spend most of the day and I've known people to spend two days. I haven't been to Billings Farm Museum in Woodstock yet, but my husband loved it. The Dog Team Tavern in Middlebury has an interesting historical background. Only open for dinner, I think. I met someone who said he hang glides in the Randolph area which must be great fun to watch. You'll have lots of beautiful country to bike and explore! Check to see what's happening on Church St in Burlington. There might be street performers, a political rally, etc.
