Too rainy for a convertable in Seattle the first week of May?
We are heading to Seattle in a couple of weeks and have a convertable reserved. Is it generally too rainy that time of year to make this car worthwhile? Am I throwing my money away on something we won't be able to enjoy?
Also, how long does it take to drive to Victoria from Seattle? What is the best combination of driving routes and ferries?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Strive, first the foie gras, and now a convertible in Seattle. You do like to live dangerously, don't you?
Seriously, I thought it was too rainy for a convertible in Seattle approximately 365 days a year.

Marilyn,
Still have one more tin of (expired) foie gras that we'll be taking with us (I guess I do live dangerously!).
Also, there are 366 days this year--perhaps we'll get lucky on day 366

Well, according to weather.com, May is the least rainy, non-summer month in Seattle. Then again, this is the same weather.com that's telling me it's currently 54 and rainy when I'm seeing blue sky outside of my window.
I would say the chances are 50/50 for some rainfall. One never knows what the weather is going to do here, particularly in the springtime. In the 16 years that I've been here, there have been sunny, warm Mays and wet, cool Mays. Some of our Mays have been better weather wise than some of our Julys. It just depends on what weather front we happen to be at the mercy of.
With that being said, I think you will be able to get some use out of your convertible. It doesn't rain every single day of the week.

We like you outsiders to think it rains all the time here. This has been a dry year, so chances are good you'll have some sunny weather, at least.
The only ferries from Seattle to Victoria do not take cars. So, if you want to take your convertable, you will need to drive to Anacortes or to Port Angeles and take a ferry from there.
The ferry from Anacortes goes to Sidney BC, about 1/2 hour north of Victoria. Look at this web page for complete travel information: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/visi...other_services

I wrote a bit too soon. Here's an even more succinct web page on the ferry service available. You can see there is only one State ferry daily, and it leaves from Anacortes to Victoria, 7:45 AM. You can make reservations. The Black Ball, from Port Angeles, leaves more frequently but doesn't take reservations. It takes longer to get to Port Angeles. So, I'd say which you take depends on your schedule and how early you are willing to get up.

I live in Seattle and I have a convertable. My top was down last week and might be when I go out now (depends on the temp). It's almost always sunny on my birthday, which is in May. However, there are no guarentees about the weather, here or anywhere (last time I was in San Diego in Jan. it was hailing.) So, anything's possible...(don't know if this helps).
