My boyfriend and I are flying to Vegas on August 16th (flight gets in around noon) then driving to Zion and staying Thursday night in Zion. At some point the next day we will drive to Bryce Canyon and spend one night there. From Bryce, we are headed to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and after staying there heading back to Vegas for our flight home (which is Monday, the 20th at midnight).
We have a lot packed in, but really we just went to see as much as we can and get a feel for the parks. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips, particularly in regards to the driving. I want to be prepared as far as knowing when/where I should get gas, if there is a particular time we should avoid driving somewhere (due to traffic or whatever) and I figure why reinvent the wheel which is why I'm asking all of you!
We have never done this type of trip so we are nervous about getting lost, running out of gas, etc.
Any other tips would be appreciated (such as places to eat, nice and easy trails, etc). We are staying at Bryce Canyon Inn, the Lodge at GC and Green Valley Ranch in Vegas. We don't have our Zion hotel booked yet because we're trying to find something more affordable (the in-park lodge is booked but I've been checking everyday for cancellations).
Thanks so much!

Top off your tank in Fredonia Arizona south of Kanab UT on 11.
Looks like Lynx is the best price.
Are you coming back by way of Page and the Vermillion Cliffs?
We stayed at the Best Western Zion Park Inn in Springdale Utah when we visited Zion. We found it to be clean and in a great location for visiting the park.
We drove a similar itinerary two years ago, except after visiting the North Rim of the Grand Canyon we proceeded on to visit more of Arizona and New Mexico. You might enjoy a quick stop at Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. It is on I-15 between Vegas and Zion. We made an impromptu visit there on our drive from Las Vegas to Springdale (Zion) and were glad we did.
@nevermind- Thanks for the suggestion to Valley of Fire--checked out some pics and it looks cool!
@tomfuller- I don't know which way I'm going back, I guess wherever our navigation or google maps takes us!
