Time from French Quarter to New Orleans airport?
Just curious how long a taxi will take on a weekday -- needing to be there by about 10:30 to 10:45. I'm mainly trying to see if I have time for a final breakfast at Brennans, which doesn't open till 9.

I don't think I would try it. Normally, it's a 30-35 minute ride, but the traffic on Rt. 10 can be tricky. This is just from a tourist that visits the city, maybe a resident can give you better info. Good luck.

I agree, you're looking around a half-hour w/no issues. I have had trips take up to an hour although I think most of the construction is finally done on the stretch in question. For something different, try the German place (the Jager Haus, I think) on Conti.

No. Guess I wasn't clear. My flight is slightly past noon. The 10:30 to 10:45 airport time was a fairly generous arrival time there. Since I can check in the quick line with American, even a later arrival should be no problem and I'll be doing carry-on only. So it sounds like 9 to either 10 or 10:15 for breakfast should be fine.
Since I'll be flying pretty much all day without meals, I thought the three course breakfast at Brennan's would be great that day. Heck I might even pop an extra "insulin" pill and do the bananas foster since I rarely do desserts.
SAnParis, the Jaeger House on Conti shows opening hours for dinner only. Am I missing something or is that not where you mean?

Ah. Never mind, SAnParis, I found it. Funny, there is a Jaeger House and a Jager Haus both on Conti!!! But the German breakfast one is apparently right across the street from my hotel -- the Prince Conti. Looks like a great spot another day. I need full breakfast -- so those beignets and chicory coffee at Cafe Du Monde, while great, won't quite do it for me for a full breakfast.

Check in at Armstrong Airport typically is very quick so you may be good after all. In the past 15 years we've used it an hour has always been plenty - hope you enjoy your visit to N'Awlins and can do your normal great trip report.

No. I never have, and I'm not considering dinner there, but do you honestly think I could go wrong there with their three course breakfast including their famous jumbalaya, egg choices and bananas foster? Any alternative ideas for a sort of "over the top" traditional NO major breakfast/brunch in the FQ during the week? I'm not interested in a buffet at the Court of Two Sisters.

Yes, but I'll only be there from Monday to Thursday -- so those wonderful Sunday brunches other places are out. I guess that's more the mood I'm trying to get though on a Thursday morning before departing!

NeoPatrick:
Have you considered Petunia's? (I can't get the breakfast menu to open up, but I'm fairly sure they are still serving early meals.)

It would be an easy walk from your hotel and their crepes are wonderful.

Funny. First of all Petunias is not what I'm talking about for this "over the top" final breakfast/brunch in NO. But I did see it listed on another thread and thought it might be fine for a regular breakfast. I looked at their menu and it was OK, but then I looked at Trip Advisor and another site and saw lists of complaints and few real raves, and was also surprised it was the ONLY restaurant name I recognized with restaurant.com coupons, something I usually associate with more mediocre restaurants that need to attract diners.

NeoPatrick - you're certainly right to exclude the Court of Two Sisters: it's got a pretty courtyard but the food is awful. My favorite brunches (led by Commander's Palace) are on the weekend, so I don't have an alternate choice for you.
By all means go and enjoy it and report back to us. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Patrick: I had dinner at Brennan's when I visited New Orleans last year. I wouldn't say it was extraordinary but it was quite good and it was better than our dinner at Mr. B's. There were three of us and we all enjoyed our meals. By all means splurge on the bananas foster. Definitely worth the calories!

We were in NO in January. I had read mixed reviews about Petunias, but we ended up trying it anyway and it was very good. We had eaten there years ago and also liked it then. Service which was also criticized was friendly and efficient.
Too bad Elizabeth's isn't opened for breakfast mid week. We loved our breakfast there and wanted to try it for dinner or even lunch, but it was closed that night and closed the next day which was our last. http://www.elizabeths-restaurant.com/ The praline bacon which I thought would be awful was delish.
