Three nights in Boston early June

My husband and I have booked a few nights in Boston, flying in and out of Logan. We are using Marriott points to stay at the Long Wharf location. We are just looking to get the flavor of the city and enjoy some good food. We'd appreciate suggestions on restaurants, attractions, and tips on getting around town since we won't have a car. Thanks everyone!

First, do a search on Boston restaurants and Boston in general - you will get more posts than you can read in the few weeks prior to your arrival.

The basics - Freedom Trail - with or without USS Constitution, Quincy Market, North end meal (Italian area).

Museums - Fine Arts, Aquarium, Isabella Stewart Gardner, Science, JFK

Tours - Duck, Fenway Park

MBTA.com - website for public transportation system. Has a search feature where you can enter origination and destination and it will plot a public transit route. Also walk, walk, walk - most of the things you will be likely to want to see are within a mile or so radius.

Shopping - Newbury Street, Quincy Market, parts of Cambridge.

Weather - likely will be great, mild. But could be cool, windy and rainy. Plan accordingly.

boston.com - website of Boston Globe which on Thursdays has section devoted to various events and exhibits.

Restaurants, bars, music - well covered in threads on this board. Much info with search.

What are your travel dates? Harvard Commencement is June 5, concurrent with lots of big reunions, and MIT's is the next day. Expect crowds at restaurants and other touristy stuff.

http://www.livenation.com/venue/getVenue/venueId/496 May have a show in town you'd like to see.

Stroll the northend

Stroll the southend

Stroll the Charles

Stroll the Gardens and Comm ave.

There is plenty of great food in Boston!

Also stroll the waterfront all by your hotel. Sit out and have a cocktail at the newish Intercontinental with their great torches and out door furniture.

Stroll by the Boston Harbour Hotel, which often features movies and music under the stars.

Take an boat ride

Vistit Castle Island for a stroll and a cheap burger and dog while watching the planes land.

Tour Harvard Square and have a burger at Mr&Mrs Bartleys.

Enjoy!

We stayed at the Long Wharf and loved it. Some highlights of our trip were the Duck Tour, whale watching, doing the Freedom Trail, going to the Public Gardens, taking in a Sox game at Fenway, and going to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. For food, we loved Legal Sea Foods and going to the North End for Italian. We also had some great cannoli at Modern Pastry; Mike's is popular too. Long Wharf is in a great location, right next to a park and the water, also right next to a T stop. Be sure to request a room with a water view; our first room had a view only of the inside of the hotel, but they were able to move us. You're in for a great trip.

Book the duck tour ahead if you choose to do this. It sells out.

You guys are the best! The info about the commencements is interesting... That does coincide with our trip. Could get crowded. Thanks for the advice.

Enjoy a meal or two at the Boston Harbor Hotel outside terrace, they are about a 5 minute walk from your hotel. Tues-Thur they have concerts and Friday movies. It is a great view, with ships and the harbor in the background.
