Three Kids (6,6 and 4) Trip Ideas Near Washington DC

I (the dad) will have my three kids for week of 8/17-8/22 while they are out of school for summer. My wife (the mom) will be working, which made me think.. why take them somewhere for a couple of days.

I live in Northern Virginia, just outside of DC.. so I am looking for some place no futher than 7 hours away driving.. I like the idea of a hotel with nice pool ( all kids are good swimmers), on the beach near a boardwalk to go to dinner and fun kid activities.. I thought of Myrtl Beach or something like that but dont know what the hotels are like ( have never been except passing through). The key is I would like to park the mini van and leave it at hotel and walk to places or stay mainly at hotel if it has everything. I dont want to driving all over the place to do something. Ideally the hotel would have an awesome kids pool, be very kid friendly and be close to all the kid activities...

Any ideas?
