Three Capes Scenic Loop

Hi: Planning to tour the scenic loop. I will be heading southbound to Lincoln City. I checked out the tour books, but when reading some online comments several people commented on poor signage and getting lost after Cape Meares.
Any inside tips on driving this route? I want to see the major viewpoints and perhaps a short hike or two. My child won't have much patience in the backseat if I find myself lost and can't find her the promised octopus tree.
Thanks for all the past help.

This drive isn't as much fun as it used to be. One of my favorite stretches along Tillamook Bay has been closed off due to damage, and there is no news about when it will be reopened. As a result, the drive to the lighthouse is a long detour that isn't very scenic.

I always enjoy visiting Oceanside, however.

Do you think I should skip Cape Meares and move on to other sites along the loop. BTW I assume the loop is a roadway off of HYW 101. Is that correct?

Sorry, I can't advise you what to skip. Highway 131, off Highway 101, will take you to Oceanside and Cape Meares (north of Oceanside).

I know you will like Oceanside. Whether you continue on to Cape Meares depends, I believe, on how much you enjoy touring lighthouses.

Cape Lookout State Park, south of Oceanside, provides good hiking opportunities. Unfortunately, the park's web site reports parking is limited due to construction.
