Thoughts on Ka tickets?

Think pricing will drop for these for September dates?

When I was lurking Las Vegas summer pkgs to see what I might expect for Sept, there was a promo of 2 free Ka tickets with bookings. That deal was only for dates thru Aug. I was hoping it meant that the show was becoming less popular and we'd see deals on them, tho not necessarily give-aways.

I'm hoping to pick up $165 tix for say, $110. I've seen this deal for other dates in Sept but not the 13th (Tues). Any guesses on whether that date will become available if I wait longer?

I saw that deal on tickets for the day we arrive. However, we arrive at 8:10pm (staying at Paris) and the show would be for 9:30pm at MGM...my gut feeling is that is too tight. Any thoughts?

Not sure if I should get good seats now or wait. I just bought airfare 2 wks ago on the last day of Southwest's sale and got burned with the "lowest prices we've ever seen" sale that came out yesterday: $365 cheaper btwn the both of us...sigh. This may be why I'm gun shy about booking Ka right now.

Appreciate any insight/experience with Vegas show tickets.

Enjoy-la!

Can't help you with speculation on whether ticket prices will fall, bargains will be available later, but I was looking myself for Viva Elvis for mid-Sept. on the Cirque website and saw that they had some discounted prices advertised. Checked the seats and they were on the outer edges toward the front, probably not the greatest seats. But at least on the Cirque site you can see what you're getting. So you might take a look. As far as Tues. goes, I think a lot of Vegas shows are dark Mon. and/or Tues., so that could be why you don't turn up bargains the 13th. You could find that out on the Cirque site. My uneducated guess is that some Ka tickets might be available discounted because it's an older show and maybe not as popular - a few years ago I read some less-than-glowing opinions on it, although I loved it myself. I have never gotten discount tickets in Vegas but have seen them for shows I had already seen - Mystere a few years ago, for instance. Know business was down last year and the year before - they were having to "paper the house" for Bette Middler at Caesars - but don't know if things have picked up out there now or not. I definitely wouldn't try to see a 9:30 show after arrival at 8. First of all, you can't be sure you'll arrive at 8:10 (sadly, you can't even be sure you'll arrive that night) and the airport is spread out; if you come in D, it will take 10-15 min. to get out. Getting to your hotel will take awhile in Vegas traffic and from Paris to MGM is quite a hike or will take some time on the monorail (and it's a long way from the monorail to the theater, too). If you go straight to MGM you'll have luggage to contend with. I'm trying to convince myself that I could see a show at 7PM and make a 10:50 flight out, but if we return the rental car beforehand to save time, we'll have luggage at the theater. Too risky and I think your situation would be much riskier. Don't think it's very likely to be able to see a show on the evening of arrival or departure.

You know you can change your SW tickets to the lower fare, don't you? You don't get your money back, but you do get a credit and there is no change fee; you have to use the credit within a year.

polly229, thx a mint for your thoughts on this. I've been checking the Cirque site daily too.

I agree with you getting tix for day of arrival will probably be more stressful than the savings is worth. Plus it'll be 12:30midnite "our time" when the show starts and we might be a bit wiped for a show. We'll probably go out for dinner and check out some tables but sitting down in a dark theatre might mean lights out for us...LOL! Hope you can fit your show in somewhere else in your schedule.

musicfan, thx for the tip. Unfortunately, the discounted fare is for US Air. The saving grace is that the sale fare has one stop-over. SW is the only carrier that flies direct from my market; I always say I'm willing to pay for a direct flight...I guess I really mean it this time

Enjoy-la!

I'm sucking it up and flying SW although I hate it. (The cattle drive aspect of no reserved seats and giving up the perks of lifetime Medallion on Delta.) But Delta only flies nonstop Thurs.-Sun., so SW gives us more flexibility on travel dates and the flight times are better on SW. (SW fares are actually always a little - or a lot - more expensive than legacy carriers from Orlando, for some reason. But Delta helped with my decision by raising fares $60 between the time I first looked and 3 days later.) With my bad experiences with missed connections and delayed luggage over the last 5 or 6 years, paying a little more for nonstop has become worth it to me. Also going to suck it up and stay two nights in Vegas. Think I'll get tickets for Elvis before I leave, then queue up the morning after Elvis for a half price show. Since it will be a Thurs. night, there should be something. There are a few shows I haven't seen and several I have seen - any of the Cirques except maybe Love - that I'd be happy to see again. We'll leave UT and drive back in the afternoon, so we'll only have one full day and a couple of hours the next day, if we sleep late, to kill in Vegas. Might go to Mt. Charleston, only place nearby we haven't been one or more times.

BTW, if you're planning on more than one show, have you seen/considered Le Reve? That was done by a Cirque "dropout" and is a cross between the newer (more ensemble-type) Cirque shows and O (has some water stuff). I was quite pleased with it. Good luck with your quest for Ka ticket discounts. I'm going to hold off and hope for something better priced for Elvis, but since that's a fairly new show, I doubt I'll be able to get a discount on good seats. I've seen O twice from the nosebleed section (no other choice either time) and am willing to pay a little more to be seated in the same county, but I'm guessing I can hold off for a couple more weeks.

Glad you got your flights taken care of, polly229. I actually like SW, esp after the numbered cattle call was instituted. I set an alarm to check-in and I like being able to choose to sit far from young kids. I also like the free luggage as I'm have yet to reach status of any sort on any carrier.

Thx for the Le Reve recommendation - we've only seen O (twice) and are always get seats in the best category.

Sounds like you're excited to see Elvis and another show, but not much into LV...LOL! I love the place cuz I don't have to plan a daily itinerary...just things we can do. We can head out the door in any direction and have fab food, (window) shopping, shows, people watching, over the top architecture and an anytime date with lady luck.

Hope you have a great trip - enjoy-la!

When we were in LV, they were handing our half-price vouchers to Ka everytime we went by the MGM.

Keep monitoring the Cirque site. I've seen nearly every Cirque show in Vegas and O is the only one I paid full price for. There are a couple other on-line sites that advertise discount tickets (do a a google search). I've not used them but Cirque matched their 25% off Elvis offer earlier this year for me. Enjoy!

abram, that was exactly what I was fearing...LOL! Do you mind me asking when you were in LV? Just wondering if it was recently.

SiteC_er, thx a mint for that info & tip! Very cute screen-name.

Enjoy-la!

Not so recently--about 18 months ago.

We've decided that Cirque may not be our thing. We thought the spectacle of it was interesting for about 20 minutes.
