Things to do in Plainfield

My 10 year old son and I will be in Plainfield for about a week. Are there any suggestions as to things we could do in the afternoon?

It's not far from Plainfield to Liberty State Park, from which you can get a ferry to the Statue.

Dear Just

All posts go to the general us board, and nobody can help you until they know whether you are talking about Plainfield NJ, IL, IN, CT, NH, or one of the other Plainfields.

I don't know much about Plainfield but I'd be happy to give you recommendations for Springfield.

Assuming you will have a car, Northlandz in Flemington is a very cool miniature railroad museum with up to 100 trains running at once:

Liberty Science Center is another good choice, in Jersey City:

If you're not limited to just afternoons and can make a day of it, you could combine the Science Center with a trip to the Statue of Liberty (as previously suggested) and/or Ellis Island.

You know, Plainfield is a pretty dismal place. But they do have a train station and good service into the City.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm sorry I negleted to mention New Jersey. I will be going to NYC when my business is done in Plainfield...so at least I have something to look forward to. Thanks for the suggestions.
