I am planning a trip to Theodore Roosevelt National Park at 8/25-8/26/11 for the first time. I am looking to spend about a day in each area of the park and would like to know which hikes anybody thinks are the most scenic. Probably going to hike to the Petrified Forest area and Painted Canyon but need advice on other hikes. Thanks

And, I hope this is preaching to the choir, but TRNP is one park in the lower 48 that you MUST regard as a wilderness experience. Sprain an ankle a mile from the road, and it might happen that nobody will notice anything amiss for days.
The bison (and all other animals) in this park are TRULY wild. They can be QUITE dangerous if not given the respect they deserve.
And do NOT count on using a cell phone to get help.
I found the isolation of TRNP exhilarating, but I also recognize the dangers.
