Theatre District Hotel
Any hotels that might be great within walking distance of the theatre district? We are going towars the end of Feb.Don't have a fortune but safety and coziness would be great.,Trying to get a cab after a play on a cold night is a nightmare, so we would love to just walk it. Thanks!

Are we talking about New York? If so, AVOID THE MILFORD PLAZA. Major-league dump. I always stay at the Renaissance Hotel at Times Square. It's fairly expensive (my company pays) so I'm not sure it's what you need. There's also an Embassy Suites nearby. They are usually a good value.

It depends on what your price range is. There is a Marriott right in the heart of Times Square/theatre district that is practically next door to everything. It tends to be pricey but you can get discounts on the website www.playbill.com.
I usually stay at the Hotel Edison, which is not fancy and the rooms are small, but nice and safe and comfortable and in a great location walking distance to all the theatres. No room service, but they do have a coffee shop and restaurant downstairs. I have never paid more than $125 a night there (not including tax). www.edisonhotel.com
I also recently stayed at the Hudson Hotel, which is a brand new, very chic hotel on W. 58th St. between 8th & 9th (about a 10-block walk to most of the theatres). They currently have promotional rates of $95 per night plus tax if you call the hotel directly. I really enjoyed the hotel a lot. The rooms are small but very stylish and comfortable. It is a little more of a walk than the others to the theatre district, but not bad at all (I saw 3 plays while I was there and walked all over the place). The website is www.hudsonhotel.com
Good luck and have a great time.

The Hudson has a great promo and is said to be a very nice place - styish and hip. Not a short walk to the thatre district (over a mile) but a quick subway ride. If that sort of ambiance (stylish, modern, hip etc.) appeals, you might consider the Paramount, owned by the same group as the Hudson. It's on W.46th between 7th and 8th in the midst of the theatre district - just adjacent to the Marriot Marquis.

We usually stay at The Belvedere or Ameritania. Both are in great locations. I booked a room at Ameritania for later this month and got a rate of $155. The Belvedere had a rate of $120, but they were sold out for the dates of our trip. I prefer the Belvedere - they have kitchenettes in the rooms. I also find their staff friendlier and more competent than Ameritania's. Oh - I always book the hotels through Central Reservation Service at 1-800-548-3311.
