The people you meet at GTGs...
Well..this may be a first. I was in San Diego for a wedding this week, and tried to set up a GTG. Didn't get much of a response, and since I was a bit sick at the beginning of my trip I only followed up with one poster...She sugested we meet for a lunch. I got there and it was my sister! She's been posting here on Fodor's for a while (she found it independently of me) and had figured out who I was a little bit earlier, but I didn't have a clue!

Icuy, that is quite a story! I have wondered if sometimes people here really know each other but don't realize it when they are on Fodor's due to the screen names. There was a couple of times I thought friends were Fodorites but after reading several of their posts I realized that they were not. You had a fun lunch I assume!!

Does anyone remember "The Shop Around the Corner", where two employees of a store were unknowingly writing love letters to each other? Also made into a musical recently.

I think she figured it out about the time I inquired about having a La Jolla GTG. she was mostly posting on Europe and west coast stuff, but made the donnection when she saw mention of my Vietnam trip!
I had told her I was meeting one of my internet friends that morning...she didn't seem at all interested, so I left without really discussing it. I figured it out when I arrived and there was a "reserved for lcuy" sign on one of the tables, with her sitting there!
Darn! now I can't talk stink about her here. ;-)
She's retiring pretty soon, so I'm thinking we should take a trip together and I will make HER write the report!!
