The I Dine/Rewards Network ff program is going to pot.
For some time, the I Dine program has been qa great way to earn frequent flyer miles. Usually 10 miles per dollar spent, sometimes less - sometimes more.
Starting July 1, the maximum miles that can be earned will be only 5 miles per dollar, with new members earning only 1 mile.

I think that it is not Rewards Network that is changing the rules, but American Airlines in respect to their participation. And it is not based on old or new members, but how much you use the program.
If you look to USAir rules, you still get 10 miles/dollar.
I prefer to get cashback.

A new person in the program (as of July 1) gets only 1 mile per dollar spent. After they have used it 4 times, they get a couple more, and with the 13th time they get the 5 miles.
It isn't just American changing. Here is the exact same change at Northwest. http://nwa.rewardsnetwork.com/site/m...es/nwpd_ve.xml

US Airways IS changing: http://usairways.rewardsnetwork.com/...es/udmd_ve.xml
Alaska Airlines, America West, British Airways, Continental, Delta, US Airways, United Airlines, and anything points, are changing. Escript (which donates money to charities) is cutting from 10% to 5%. Midwest Airlines already has the lower miles.
No other airlines are listed at RN as being in the program.

Well, I've been making a concentrated effort to use it recently, as a number of our local places are currently giving 20 miles per dollar. Since the first of January, I've earned a little over 7000 miles on the program. I realize it's going to be less soon, but right now I'm really racking them up. Just Sunday night we ate at one of our casual local Italian places we love. Two nice meals, good wine, and one dessert -- with tip and tax, $72 for the two of us. That was an automatic 1440 miles.
Meanwhile although they will be giving fewer miles, look for more bonuses. Did you catch the current bonus? Eat 6 times at listed restaurants in the current two months (before April 30) and get a bonus -- of I think 1000 miles? You have to register for those bonuses though.
