Texas itinerary advice

Jump to last reply

Hello, I'm visiting Texas for the first time this spring and could do with some advice on an itinerary. I will be travelling with my husband and 2 teenage daughters (15 and 13 yo). We'll be flying into DFW on 28 March and staying with friends (english) in Plano for the weekend. We'll then go off travelling during the week before returning to them for the following weekend and then leaving from DFW on 9th April. My plans are a work in progress but at the moment I'm thinking the following
Day 1 - 3 (Easter weekend) staying in Plano. I'm thinking that we would want to visit Six Flags but could do with advice on other things to do in the area. my girls aren't madly into history and would rather be doing things rather than looking round Museums.
Day 4 (Monday) Drive to Hyatt Hill Country San Antonio via Natural Bridge Caverns
Day 5 - Segway tour of San Antonio plus riverwalk boat ride.
Day 6 - Behind the scenes morning Seafari tour at Seaworld (the park will be closed) then maybe tubing in the afternoon (or other suggestions)
Day 7 - Leave Hyatt and drive to Hideaway Ranch near Glen Rose. (would it be practical or desirable to go via Austin?)
Day 8 - Visit Glen Rose, go riding at the ranch, visit a winery (other suggestions?)
Day 9 (Saturday) - Fossil Rim Wildlife Centre (escorted behind the scenes tour) then onto Fort Worth stockyards and take in a rodeo. Return to our friends in Plano that evening
Day 10 - Dallas (suggestions)
Day 11 - Plano (suggestions)
Day 12 - depart DFW and head home.

We'd like to get a bit of shopping in to the itinerary as well - i've read that the outlets around San Marco are good. Not sure when we should fit that in?
My husband is also quite keen to visit a gun range as that's not something we can do at home!
Any ideas / comments gratefully received!
Thanks for your help.
