Ten women flying into Providence on the 28th of Aug. suggestions for where to stay - one night in one location and 2 nights the other location. We would like to stay in Newport and ?? Probably do a day trip to Martha's Vineyard rather than stay there. What about Nantucket? Good recommendations on here for restaurants. Have checked with Doubletree on Goat Island and they have rooms Sun. and Mon. Don't know where to stay Sat. or if that's the order we should stay since I don't know the lay of the land at all! I'm sure we have chosen a very crowded time but that was the only time frame all 10 of us could go. We leave out of Providence on Tues. Any suggestions? Thanks

You don't say how old you are, but I'm guessing fairly young. If so, I would say Nantucket Island isn't really the place. I went there with my husband last year, and although we are both 30 we were younger than the average guest by about 10 to 20 years. It's also a little snobby--I'm used to the wine country in California, but this was much stuffier than that. Not that I didn't like it, I did, but in your situation I would advise you to stay on Martha's Vineyard, which is a more casual, younger type place.
I would do more than a day trip to Martha's Vineyard. Go for at least two days and one night. We loved it. We also enjoyed Nantucket but could do that in a day trip if you desired. Have fun!
