I was wondering if taxi's charge more during Carnival then other times of the year? We will be there from the Wednesday before Fat Tuesday until the Thursday after. My 82 year old mother will be coming with me so im sure we will be needing to take some taxi's while we are there. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, mscmkr

Taxis usually charge a fixed rate during special events like Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest, usually per person.
Just be aware that in certain areas of town, on parade days, taxis will be almost impossible to find, and many streets are closed to car traffic. Plan accordingly.
