Tampa Bay area and the oil spill

We have reservations to stay in the vicinity of Indian Shores July 1-6. Any locals read the board that can give me what area residents are predicting about the oil spill. I keep track of the spill on the noaa.gov website and it looks like the spill is staying clear of your area. We are looking forward to our visit.

My parents are an hour south and have had no signs at all of it so far. Hopefully it stays that way.

FY: We had a wonderful day on the water out in the Gulf this past weekend. We live in Indian Rocks (3 miles north of Indian Shores) and traveled, by boat, north in the Gulf to visit friends in Gulf Port, just south of Homassassa and Crystal River (about 75 miles north of Indian Shores) Water was beautiful and clear. We saw at least 10 sea turtles, several schools of Tarpons, and pods of dolphins. At least 10 manatees along the Weeki Wachee river. We were probably 3 miles off shore.

I am going to the same location, same dates and I am very optimistic that everything will be great! If you have never been to that area before it is a nice quiet, relaxing locale. (maybe not on the weekend of the 4th!)

We live just north of Clearwater and have been boating several times in the last couple weeks. No oil - only beautiful water and beaches. We've had great fresh seafood at beach restaurants and also purchased over ten pounds of shrimp from local fisherman to cook up at home - all was wonderful. We too are watching the news reports daily, and keeping our fingers crossed. Meanwhile, we're enjoying our paradise - come on down and do the same!

. . . wanted to add that we're keeping our northern Gulf coast neighbors in our thoughts.
