Take me to your leader??
OK. This is a bit of an odd one, but maybe someone can help. Hubby and I are having our second trip to Vegas this year. We did a lot of the 'touristy' things last time, and we're just kicking back this time. One thing we want to go see is the famous 'Area 51' sign (he's a major Trekkie). Does anyone know of any UFO enthusiast groups that meet out that way? We were planning on hanging out some evening around the town of Rachael, and we're going to be 'watching the skys' anyways. It might be fun to do it with a bunch of other people looking up and getting kricks in their necks too. No, I'm not kidding. If you seriously know of any clubs or groups that just go out there to look and hang out, let me know. And please resist the urge to make fun of this post. ;-) Thanks!

Not my taste, but it sounds like you could have a lot of fun doing this! I have no ideas for you, but here's topping it in case someone else does.
That said, no one will know what you're looking for from your subject line, so if you really want advice, repost with a more descriptive title. There may only be 1-2 people who read this board (if that) who can help you, and you want to make sure they see your post. I first thought it might be political statement about or president.

I was thinking about your post and it came to mind that I seem to recall a bar or something out that way called the AlieINN. Or something like that.
Maybe you can google variations on that name. I am pretty sure that it was either near Vegas, Area 51 OR Roswell. I am sorry I can't recall, BUT maybe if you get in touch with that it could lead you to your answer.
I am thinking that anyone that went there and or owned it would be a "UFO enthusiast"
Also maybe something on George Nory and Art Bell's Coast to Coast Website could help you out.
That is the only things I can think of. Good luck.

I'd be glad to take you to my leader! >-)
I haven't been to "Area 51" but I have been to Rachel, Nevada a couple of times. We really like driving the Extraterrestrial Highway (Hwy 375) between Crystal Springs and Warm Springs, Nevada. In Rachel is the Little A'Le'Inn. This link has a lot of info and links to other sites like Area 51.

We camped at Crystal Springs one year and watched the night skys. Didn't see anything. As we drove the Extraterrestrial Highway the next day and we had a lot of fun making a home movie of a space ship appearing and disappearing on the motorhome windshield. LOL!
BTW, make sure you fill up your gas tank because the last time we were in Rachel their gas pump wasn't working!

If you google "area 51" you will get all the info you are looking for.
From seeing shows about area 51, I do not know how close you can actually get...the government has a policy on area 51, shoot first ask questions later. It is seriously guarded.
Sounds like a fun idea though

Thanks for your suggestions everyone! We do intend on checking out the Little A'Le'Inn (I know we won't get anywhere's close to the Area 51 compound. Unless we want to get shot...and we're both allergic to that ). I understand there's a little museum out there as well (looks like it's in a little yellow travel trailer! LOL!). I will check out the website you sent, utahtea, thanks. Who knows, if I ask the proprieters of the Al'E'Inn, they might be able to help too. From what we've heard, they've extended the 'border' of Area 51, so I don't think you can even get pictures of the mysterious Black Mailbox anymore. *sigh* Oh, well. It'll be cool just to go out that way. Thanks again everyone! Liza

My husband and I went to Rachel on our last Vegas vacation. Make sure you go to the "museum" next to the A'Le'Inn. The owner is really anxious to share stories about area 51. We drove down the dirt road as far as the barrier. The sign says that if you go any farther, they are authorized to use lethal force to stop you. Up on a hill to our right was a white SUV with 2 men in it. They watched us with binoculars the whole time we were there. There was nothing to see except the sign, but knowing we were being watched very closely really creeped us out. After taking a few pictures, we left (waving good-bye to the SUV). All in all, it was an interesting trip.
