Tahoe-South Lake

Heading to Tahoe (South Lake) for a wedding this summer, driving from northern Cal taking I-80. Any suggestions on what to do along the way and also what to see and do once we're there? It's our first time to Tahoe.

From where in northern California? Makes a big difference. But in general if you are going to south shore you don't want to take I-80. That is waaaaay out of your way. Hwy 50 goes from Sacramento straight to South Lake Tahoe.

You can stop in Placerville if you want an old time-y downtown and lunch.

If you have never been to Sacramento, stop and take a docent tour of the Capitol building.

Tahoe has dining, hiking, gambling, boat excursions. So beautiful.

Go see Emerald Bay. You can park and walk down to the house. On of my favorite places!

May be in Sacramento for Memorial day w/end - GTG? As soon as I know, I'll start a GTG thread, or my email is in the profile.
