Surely there is somewhere nicer than the Disneyland Hotel!

Our family is going to Disneyland. The Disneyland hotel looks really old. We are used to staying at very nice hotels and resorts. Any suggestions in the Disneyland area, beach areas or L.A. We want to do the Disney thing, the beach scene, touristy stuff and high-end boutique shopping.

Hi! We've lived in California for many, many years. Disneyland is a great place to visit! About the hotel... I know it looks old, but it is very nice! Don't let the photos mislead you. The property within the Hotel is lovely and there's so much to do right there. You absolutely cannot beat the monorail connecting to Disneyland right from the hotel (especially if you have any children traveling with you.). There is entertainment in the evenings all throughout the property and the restaurants are very good also. The hotel is very nice, and you can't beat staying there when in Disneyland. Make SURE to ask for a marina view room. We prefer the main building for our rooom with a marina view. Also, Disney has purchased the Pan Pacific Hotel next door to the Disneyland Hotel property. I believe it's not the Disney Pan Pacific. I know little about this property, but my choice would dtill be the DL Hotel.
About shopping, beaches etc... it would take much too long to list them all. I would suggest contacting Fodors Miniguide(within this site) . His reccommendations are always excellent and right on target. Also, there are a number of "Guides to L.A. available on the web within Amazonbooks.com. They are also great resources. Of course, you MUST visit
Rodeo Drive in Beverley Hills for high-end botique shopping!
Please e-mail me directly if you have any other questions. Have a fabulous trip!! I wish we were going!!!

Hi. The Disneyland Hotel if Great. We have stayed twice before. Get a room where you can see the fireworks at night. Very exciting. There are some really good restaurants here and nice pools and shops. Very convenient to Disneyland.!!!
Have fun.

If I was Mr. Disney I would be insulted that you would think Disneyland would have a hotel that is run down or old. But if its still beneath your haughty taughty standards you can stay at the Anaheim Hilton for $300 a night!

Im so glad that you can stay at nicer hotels than the Disneyland Hotel. But thank you for lesson to my children, for whom we have been saving for over a year for the trip to the really old hotel. Like I explained to them some people always want something better. Sad

Yes, why would someone who is accustomed to the finer things in life even be lowering their standards and visiting Disneyland? There's not even a Ritz Hotel there, for God's sake!

Wow, enough with the insults--lighten up. Visitors to this forum have different tastes and lifestyles. We all benefit from their varied knowledge and experiences. You should be able to post a legitimate question and not be insulted.

I think Mr. Disney would also be insulted by all of your rude responses. They have no place here and are not welcome.
