Sunday morning in southern Florida

We sail into Miami on a Sunday morning. We fly out of Ft Lauderdale at 3pm. We have a rental car but don't have any idea where to head. We have heard that Las Olas Blvd in FLL IS a fun place but wonder if anything will be open on Sunday morning.
Any ideas for us???????

Sunday morning in Las Olas Blvd is very busy with people out for brunch. Since you are coming into the Port of Miami, why not just head to the closest area and have breakfast in South Beach or Lincoln road. A lot more to do than Las Olas in my opinion. Two places I would recommend for brunch....Big Pink or The News Cafe. Other than that most of the places are tourist traps, but it is a fun place to walk and shop....in particular Lincoln Rd.

I live in Fort Lauderdale. Please STAY in Miami where there is "more to do."

Thank you so much for the information. Brunch and walking and shopping are exactly what we are looking for. We were just afraid nothing would open up until noonish and that is when we should start heading towards the airport.

One more question...
Last time we ventured to South Beach we could not find a place to park so we had to just cruise around in the car (which was great fun btw) Any suggestions or tips on the best place to park???

Just a little Dade County vs Broward rivalry ha ha!

South Beach parking has much improved with new parking all over the place, mind you it will cost at least 15$ flat rate. I would recommend that you go to Lincoln Rd. There is an alley that runs along the entire length of Lincoln rd....and ALL along that alley are public lots. Usually you can drive along there and find a spot, and it is very inexpensive. Other than that, there are some big garages not hard to spot. Once you get parked there, you can walk the length right down to Ocean drive and make your way up Ocean and then when your exhausted you can cab it back.

I like Las Olas too, but I dont think it comes close to the variety and flavor of South Beach especially on weekends. Every second Sunday they have a market and antique booths set up on Lincoln which is fun. There is also Espanolia Way which is very eclectic as well, that is just down a few blocks and you can hit it on the way to Ocean Dr.

Dave009, not sure how to contact you but I wanted to let you know how much we appreciated your help concerning South Beach. We got our rental, and using your recommendation we headed toward South Beach. We found a parking garage on seventh, close to Ocean and walked to News Café. We had a marvelous brunch, sat right on the street and were able to people watch. We even saw a man riding a bicycle with a Yorky sitting on top of his head, gosh I wish I could have gotten my camera out quick enough to snap a photo of that one!!!!! We were so lucky that it was the Art Deco Festival weekend...what a highlight!!! Thanks so much for your recommendation, we had a blast!!!!!!
