Looking for a very nice place to go with my sisters in November on a Sunday in Manatthan.
Was thinking of The Plaza or The Boat House in Central Park. Any suggestion, thank you.

Many places have brunch - very few have tea.

Boat House has a nice brunch - food is good, but not straordinary - and views if the weather is good.

Have you checked out the menu online to see if it meets your needs?

And what time are you looking for - brunches typically end at 4, while you can usually get afternoon tea later than that (but in a very limited number of places).

Menu at the Boat house very good, but I think we would prefer Afternoon tea, The Plaza does offer it and serves until 5pm.

we are going sight seeing on the Sunday and would like to end with some thing nice and relaxing.

Just avoid The Russian Tea Room at all costs.

The Mandarin Oriental lobby does a nice tea with great views. Make a reservation. The restaurant inside Bergdorf Goodman also does a very nice afternoon tea.

If you are looking for a hotel tea service the besides the Plaza, mclaurie has pointed you to one of the best at the Mandarin. There is also the Pembroke Room and The Lowell Hotel on the Upper East Side. In addition, The Mark and the Pierre offer afternoon tea.

For many years, our group of gals went during the holidays to tea at the Pierre. The Plaza is just too darned busy with tourists walking and gawking. Also, check out Alice's Tea Cup, believe there is one in UWS and UES (east side was first). Quirky atmosphere, good food w/ nice variety, and yes, Alice-in-Wonderland themed, their waitstaff in fairy wings, etc., their website should give you a good idea.

p.s. Make a couple reservations-- the Boathouse is nice if weather is clear, less appealing if inclement; also, where else in the city might you be wandering? Cover your bases, and cancel in the morning. Do not recommend Norma's or Sarabeth's-- too crowded, too noisy, overpriced.

My response should have read "The Pembroke Room AT The Lowell Hotel". I have heard that it is one of the best. Have a wonderful time!!

We enjoyed tea at Alice's Tea Cup recently. Food was great and staff very friendly - avoid Tea & Sympathy. Its a tiny shop and just not very friendly - "rules" that I found rude and annoying....
